CANDLELIGHT RESTORATIVE WORKSHOP - With Colleen Dwyer

 

August in Nashville is an ideal time to implement some cooling techniques into your practice.  The Sanskrit word Pitta means "to heat" or "to burn".  Ayurveda, the science of health or well being, is about finding balance, so in the heat of summer, we look for ways to cool the body, to counter the heat that is present.  Surrendering focuses on forward bends.  Forward bends are calming, lower blood pressure, stretch hamstrings, gluteals and the whole back body.  They facilitate surrendering and letting go.  

All yoga levels are welcome.  Please note the Restorative Yoga is appropriate for everyone, even those with limited mobility.

PRANAYAMA (breath-exercise) WORKSHOP With Colleen Dwyer


If you breathe, this workshop is for you!


You do not need to be a yoga practitioner to participate, this workshop is for EVERYONE!  It is fun and relaxing, you will learn 10 to 12 different breaths which can be utilized in your everyday life.


Breathing is a necessary part of your life, yet most of the time we do not even think about it.  Learn to become aware of your breath through the practice of fundamental yogic breathing techniques. 


Yogis believe that breathing practices are as beneficial to the body, mind, and spirit as asanas (postures).  Asana opens up the body for sitting comfortably in meditation, and finding movement and flexibility in the muscles that assist breathing.  Pranayama creates space in your body, which takes you further into the physical postures.  In this workshop, you will learn fundamental yogic breathing techniques, and to connect with your breath, developing breath awareness.  Increase your prana (life force energy), and create more oxygen rich blood flowing through your body and to your brain.  Reduce toxins (and therefore dis-ease) in the body by learning proper breathing.  You will learn breaths to combat stress, increase energy, relieve insomnia, and to cool the physical body.  Highly recommended for those with anxiety, asthma, stress, and those looking to advance their asana practice.

Join us for an incredible evening, of candlelight Restorative Yoga with Colleen Dwyer, founder of BlossOMing Yoga, accompanied by the beautiful sound of live cello played by Daniel Sperry - Cello Man.  As you rest in postures, Daniel’s live music will serenade you into deeper levels of relaxation and oblivion, while Colleen gently offers hands on adjustments and Reiki energy.  This is sure to be a magical evening!
